Bangu is a minimalist lounge chair designed by California-based duo Studio Ocho Cuartos. The chair is the result of the merging of the Japanese concept of Ma Ga Warui and Mexican-Zapotecan ideologies. Inspired by these two culture’s architecture and philosophical values such as symmetry, connection to nature and resourcefulness, this piece invokes an experience of grounding oneself, through sitting on a lower plane encouraging the viewer to have a moment of pause.
