Parallel is a minimal series of furniture designed by London-based designer Samuel Wilkinson for Deesawat. Parallel is made from thin strips of solid Teak, consisting of a table, bench and chair. The minimal designs use solid Teak from local sustainable plantations and was conceived after seeing smaller offcuts left unused after larger sections of Teak were cut for other projects. All the piece of furniture have a knockdown construction so that they could flat pack for shipping. The designer explains, “The main aim for me was to try identifying and then designing interesting pieces that really showed off the amazing skills of local artisanal. The pieces have quite a technical construction with all the cross braces hidden underneath or on the inside so you end up wit h this lovely clean appearance of parallel Teak timbers.”
