Reka Armchair is a minimalist chair designed by Brooklyn-based studio Sun at Six. The Reka Armchair introduces a deliberate play on dimensions, showcasing a balance between broad and slim elements in its design. This approach is evident in the chair’s legs, which are crafted to appear wide and flat from one perspective yet narrow from another. The design extends to the seat cushion, which is notably elongated and enhanced in thickness to prioritize comfort for prolonged periods of use. The chair’s overall dimensions, including a slightly increased footprint and a more generous backrest, are intentionally selected to enhance user comfort. The Reka Armchair features solid makata wood, chosen for its distinctive natural grain and the luminous quality of its surface. The choice of wood contributes not only to the chair’s aesthetic appeal but also to its structural integrity. For the upholstery, options include velvet or bouclé fabric made from 100% polyester, ensuring durability and resistance to wear. These fabrics are specifically chosen for their practical qualities, being both abrasion-resistant and capable of withstanding spills and stains, making the chair suitable for everyday use.
