Story Bookcase is a minimal bookcase created by Sweden-based designers Afteroom for Design Within Reach. In creating the Story Bookcase (2017), the designers brought a new twist to Sapien-style vertical book storage by allowing the user to position the shelves facing forward or to the side. By holding texts horizontally in a vertical stack, Story holds dozens of books in a very compact footprint. They hoped people see it as a quiet, functional sculpture. All-metal construction and a heavy weighted base provide strength and stability. Weight limit per shelf: 7 pounds. Simple assembly required; wall anchoring hardware and safety strap included.
