1145 Park Avenue is a minimal apartment located on the Upper East Side, New York, designed by Mammoth Projects. The townhouse is only approximately 15′ wide, and much of the task was focused on making smaller spaces feel airier and roomier. The kitchen was moved from the ground floor to a sun-filled space with a combination of lower cabinets and full-height pantries in order to maximize storage and light. A new staircase was installed to create a focal point and add texture to the space, while also mitigating its own footprint. The formal living area was partitioned via a series of custom, sliding oak doors with glass inlays from the dining and kitchen – by creating distinct programming, the spaces feel larger.
