Clementi Peaks is a minimalist apartment located in Singapore, designed by Parenthesis. The location of the apartment, nestled amongst reputable schools, was a determining factor in their decision to reside there long-term. The design mandate was clear: a minimalist and enduring home, predominantly in shades of white, complemented by subtle light wood touches. It was essential that the chosen materials be not only visually appealing but also low-maintenance. In designing the layout, Parenthesis prioritized functionality without compromising on aesthetics. They aimed to create versatile spaces where various activities could coexist without sacrificing the privacy integral to a family home.

The original two-bathroom design was largely retained, but an aesthetic overhaul was undertaken to align with the home’s overall color palette. One notable modification was the addition of a storage space, which, if needed, could be transformed into a room for a helper in the future. This addition was achieved without diminishing the overall spacious feel of the apartment. Provisions for a study and an extra bedroom were also integrated into the design, ensuring the home is future-ready. Recognizing the couple’s passion for cooking and their penchant for hosting dinners, the design team re-envisioned the dry-kitchen as the heart of the home. This central space, easily accessible and visible from both the baking island and the wet kitchen, encourages interaction between the hosts and their guests.
