Crafted by Nature is a minimal gallery collection launched by New York-based Radno̲r. Orchestrated by the keen eye of founder Susan Clark, the exhibit not only celebrates the inauguration of the Radno̲r Gallery program but also pays homage to the impeccable craftsmanship that characterizes each unique design. Crafted by Nature shines a spotlight on an array of new works, displaying an impressive roster of artists. Among them are Abigail Booth and Toshio Tokunaga, hailing from Japan, both of whom Radno̲r has the privilege of exclusively representing in the United States. The exhibition also introduces fresh contributions from acclaimed designers such as Bunn Studio, Adam Rogers, and Fong Brothers Company. Further extending the lineup are works by Karl Zahn and a unique piece from Radno̲r’s own Susan Clark.
The central motif of Crafted by Nature revolves around the sublime equilibrium achieved when a design appears effortlessly natural, yet, beneath its surface, harbors an intricate complexity both in concept and execution. Limited-run designs within the collection embody the quintessence of Radno̲r’s ethos, showcasing the exceptional talent of designers deeply steeped in the heritage of craftsmanship and unafraid to challenge boundaries, thus, refining their artistry to a cutting-edge form. Crafted by Nature invites viewers to perceive the designers and craftsmen not merely as skillful artisans, but as creators of fine art for the domestic space. The pieces showcased are as expressive, captivating, and collectible as any painting. Each work presents a unique narrative, distinguishing itself through the depth of its design, the richness of its tone, and the bold usage of a dark color palette. In essence, Crafted by Nature is an exhibition that stands as a testament to the extraordinary beauty and artistry inherent in design.
“Prior to now, Radno̲r pursued artists and makers with open editions for our collections. For this exhibition, we brought the collection to a whole new level with pieces and artworks that are truly one-of-a-kind. I curated Crafted by Nature to include pieces that are so complex in their methodology and making that they hold and embody the entire history of that maker’s training. It is an honor to welcome Abigail Booth and Toshio Tokunaga to Radno̲r and introduce their incredible works to the US,” states Susan Clark, Radno̲r founder.
