Dubai Coastal Villa is a minimalist residence located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, designed by IN BLOSSOM INTERIOR STUDIO. This 650 sqm project by demonstrates how cross-cultural design can honor Middle Eastern desert character while meeting contemporary residential needs. The 7,000-kilometer design collaboration connects Chongqing’s refined aesthetic sensibilities with Dubai’s vibrant gulf culture through thoughtful material selection and cultural sensitivity.
The renovation strategy focuses on targeted modifications combined with careful furnishing rather than complete reconstruction. This approach preserves the existing structural framework while introducing warmth and character to address the quality and aesthetic shortcomings typical of overseas standardized developer finishes. By working within the existing shell, the design balances efficiency and cost control with personalized customization that reflects the owners’ lifestyle and taste.
Supply chain research revealed significant differences between Dubai and Chinese building material markets, prompting a dual strategy combining locally sourced materials with select items shipped from China. This pragmatic approach balanced regional availability with specific material requirements unavailable within UAE markets.
Interior cultural references appear through subtle material choices rather than obvious decoration. Warm beige wall finishes and ceilings evoke sunlight on sand, responding to regional color preferences. Rough natural stone walls suggest desert rock formations, bringing indigenous textural character that anchors the space in local landscape. The combination of light brown rough stone and beige limestone creates a gentle foundation that feels suffused with desert sunlight warmth.
