Garage Conversion is a minimal renovation located in Amsterdam, Netherlands, designed by Barde + vanVoltt. What started as a hardware store that transitioned into a garage, the space is situated on the ground floor of a residential building built in the 1930s. The use of natural materials was an important factor along with an open floor plan. Skylights were inserted along the raised roof to provide additional natural light. Certain elements of the space were retained in order to keep the integrity of the building’s original structure.
