Groov is a minimal space located in Seoul, South Korea, designed by CACTUS. The “Groov” hair roller was conceived by repurposing deformed reinforcement materials typically found on construction sites. The design embraces the idea of elevating something rugged and raw into an elegant and functional accessory, helping users achieve their desired look. To highlight the individuality of each user, the mirror’s position within the design is intentionally varied. This feature, coupled with the use of embossed plates, symbolizes the transformation from a rough beginning to a polished finish. The designers of Groov envision a world where everyone can confidently express their unique style with the help of this innovative hair roller. Incorporating a mix of materials, such as metal, glass, stone, and wood, the design acknowledges the passage of time and the interplay between different elements. The combination of these materials signifies a harmonious balance, where each component’s strengths and weaknesses are acknowledged and complemented by the others.
