Kampus North Block is a minimal space located in Manchester, United Kingdom, designed by YOUTH. Kampus was one of the first projects we took on as a studio. After pitching for it back in 2016, even though we’d never done anything at this scale before (533 apartments across 5 buildings), we managed to beat out several established design studios from across the UK. This initial glimpse is of North Block, the first of five individual buildings to be completed at the new neighborhood. Throughout this block we wanted to create an environment of adaptability and functionality, giving residents an ever-evolving aesthetic. We wanted them to feel like home, somewhere you can make your own, so the design is understated with simple details – wall colors that add warm tones, floor colors that don’t dictate what you do with the space, furniture made from natural materials. It’s not a white box, but neither is it too much. You bring your own style. We reflected this vibe in our photoshoot, which brought together people who embody the spirit of Kampus’ city living. From local sneaker head and proud Manc Ste Wing to record label owner Tom Neatis. Keep an eye out for more from Kampus this year.
