KuanYan Gallery is a minimalist space located in Taipei, Taiwan, designed by Republic Design. The concept of this space is slightly different from general cafes or art galleries concept, which is more likely presented by an artistic way. Fundamentally, the lengthy narrow shaped lot is hidden between buildings and alleys, which limits the amount of natural sunlight. Thus, the designers tried to break through the ordinary narrow layout with more curvy and variable elements. Viewing from the entrance, both sides of the lengthy walls can be used as display areas. Hanging rails are installed in the flat white wall that can be used to hang variable sizes of art. On the opposite wall, the designers created a large grid frame that creates a connection to the portable racks, and hanging art works.
