Reflecting 65SQM is a minimal interior located in Bidadari, Singapore, designed by Open Studio. The project design was born out of reaction to the limitations of the apartment. Engulfed in the heart of the public housing development, views out of this flat were limited to neighboring blocks and landscaped public grounds below. The lack of long, outward view and original compartmentalized shell of two bedroom + living room created a deep sense of claustrophobia. To address the claustrophobia, the space was reorganized to create a new view. One that disregarded the outward view for the gaze inward. A reflective object inserted into the heart of the apartment serves to mirror colorful scenes of daily life around the home. The apartment is of a clean minimal palette that attempts at fading away the walls and instead, focus on the activities that happen in and around the flat.
