Retrofuture-Ev is a minimalist space located in Paris, France, designed by Studiokokumi and Core Architectures. The design concept centers on the notion of duality – the past and the future, rawness and transformation, all co-existing within a singular space. This architectural endeavor seeks to mirror the brand’s ethos. Notably, half of the interior is left in its original, unadulterated state, serving as a tangible reminder of the past, echoing the unrefined beauty of vintage automobiles before they undergo the process of restoration. On the flip side, the remaining interior space undergoes a complete metamorphosis.
Drenched in monochromatic white, from the flooring right up to the ceiling, it signifies the transformative process that takes place within the brand’s operations. This aspect of the design encapsulates the notion of rejuvenation, highlighting the transformative journey each vehicle embarks upon. In this approach, the designers have brilliantly contrasted two halves of the same narrative, creating a physical embodiment of the brand’s story. This dichotomy also extends to the chosen materials: the white cast resin and white lacquered steel that pervade the space stand as visual markers of change, helping to demarcate the raw, historical half from the transformed, renewed half.
