Siten is a minimal salon located in Osaka, Japan, designed by SIDES CORE. This unique hair salon in the heart of the city boasts a multi-faceted mirror set that creates a one-of-a-kind spatial experience, shifting perspectives and changing perceptions. The mirror design tilts on two axes, symbolizing the idea that “changing your perspective can change your life”. The mirror design also offers privacy for four seats, with mutually contradictory tilts making it harder for lines of sight to cross, even between adjacent seats. In contrast, the existing wall surfaces of the building’s frame are composed of curves, and the new partitions blend seamlessly into the space, adopting the same curves as their motif.

The personal eyecare room is located behind a slit in the curved wall and is designed for relaxation. The curved wall, which catches natural light from the full-height windows, creates a soft and rich expression that is reflected in the solid mirror set, along with the curtains treated with thin vapor-deposited silver foil. Despite being on the fourth floor, the end face of the mirror set, shaped by its skewed axes, is visible from the avenue intersection. This serves as a symbol for the salon and resonates with the logo, which symbolizes perspective, field of view, and viewpoint. The subtle shifts of perspective and the rich space projected by the mirrors offer a unique and worth experiencing comfort.
