Testing Ground is a minimal space located in Shenzhen, China, designed by INFINITY STUDIO. The layout of the space is thoughtfully segmented into various zones: a reception area featuring sofas, a central island bar, a dedicated reading zone, and a managerial office. Each of these spaces aims to mirror the daily life of a fashion designer, offering an authentic yet elevated experience for visitors. In doing so, the designers strive to make aesthetics an intrinsic part of the environment. While the objective is to communicate an atmosphere of relaxation and accessibility, the design also aspires to evoke complexity through texture and materiality.

The space employs a palette of dark wood, white and grey cave stone, ash wood flooring, cotton and linen fabrics, and mocha stone. In a nod to sustainability, designers even incorporate repurposed materials to give the space a familiar yet unusual texture. Complementing the heavier materials are accents of lightweight aluminum, making the space feel both grounded and ethereal. A key principle of the design is its adaptability. Recognizing that beauty standards are fluid, the architects have made the space flexible enough to evolve over time. In much the same way that fashion serves as a lens for interpreting the world, the designed space aims to guide the public’s aesthetic sensibilities in a positive direction.
