Torstrasse 140 is a minimalist showroom concept located in Berlin, Germany, designed by VAUST. This space, nestled in the city’s vibrant core, is designed to be adaptable, serving as a showcase for a range of brands, a locale for exclusive dining events, and a professional setting for client engagements. The architectural foundation of this project is an expansive atrium, which has been transformed from its original office use while maintaining its practicality. Key to this redesign is the introduction of mobile display units. These pieces are crafted from oiled MDF and feature a 10mm raw aluminum tabletop, complete with a shadow gap and wheels for easy reconfiguration, fulfilling multiple uses from product display to a makeshift bar. Adding to the space’s utility and aesthetic are custom-made aluminum shelves, held by stainless steel wires, that bring a sense of order and refined simplicity to the walls.

Additionally, a large white cabinet with an aluminum top spans a wall, enhancing storage while maintaining the space’s clean lines. A standout feature is the set of six tailor-made retail rails. Fashioned from high-grade aluminum, they come equipped with ceiling-mounted motors for height adjustment, enabling various display options and interaction through an industrial remote control. The showroom’s layout is artfully segmented with slim aluminum dividers featuring polycarbonate panels, offering a degree of privacy and flow between areas. Strategic placement of carpeting on walls adds textural contrast and improves acoustics. Complementing the overall scheme, the showroom includes specially crafted artificial stone stools. These items, sculpted from styrofoam and finished with a glossy PU lacquer, provide mobile seating and reflect the distinctive style of the design studio VAUST.
