Grain is a minimalist design created by United States-based designer Jonah Willcox-Healey. The Grain Series of lighting aims to emphasise the unique properties of fluorescent lighting, such as 360 degree illumination and low heat output. Fluorescent bulbs are commonly attributed to industrial ceiling lights, Grain helps to change this by taking the harsh light and diffusing it through maple veneer to create a warm ambient glow. The intensity of light given off in either ambient or directional methods is a main driving factor behind the design so that the consumer can change the lighting to suit their situation.
