The Rib Collection is a minimalist lighting collection by the Philadelphia-based design practice, Konekt Studio. Continuing the studio’s exploration of juxtaposing characteristics, Rib balances strength with fragility and restraint with ornament, combining sharp lines with soft curves.

Spanning ceiling pendants, flush mounts, wall sconces, as well as table and floor lamps, each piece is unified by its use of hand-blown glass, meticulously crafted by artisans in Italy. The bulbous glass orbs are framed by thin brass ribs, adding contrast and structure to the luminous material, while hand-wrapped leather and suede accents add a tactile element to the lights. 

The combination of materials creates an unexpected contrast within the collection and reinforces Konekt Studio’s ongoing interest in materiality and duality, emphasizing the interplay between the ornate and the understated.
