Shirayuri is a minimalist floor lamp by the Basel-based design duo 11, composed of Susanna Smailova and Llia Moiseev. Standing at 1.6 meters (a little over 5 feet) tall, the pronounced yet delicate light brings a sculptural presence and warm glow to any space it inhabits.

Crafted from stainless steel and cotton-silk fabric sourced from Japan, the textile is hand-stitched to a series of metal frames that form the lamp’s petal-like shades. These petals are assembled, attached to a steel stem, and suspended over the light source to create a form reminiscent of a white lily, the flower that inspired the name of the piece.

Defined by its clean, curvilinear forms, the speckled textile shades offer a brilliant contrast to the lamp’s sleek metal components, including a round steel base that subtly reflects Shirayuri’s soft glow.

The piece embodies the emerging duo’s interest in creating simple, yet whimsical designs inspired by nature. “Our approach is based on the pursuit of purity of forms, where every detail is thought through and avoids unnecessary complexity,” shares co-founder Smailova.
