JI BWILL CHA JI is a minimal space located in Hangzhou, China, designed by water team design. Drawing inspiration from the local culture, elements like Shaoxing stone, tin pots, and woolen hats are incorporated into the design. The entrance features a bar made from old stone slabs, small green bricks, clear cement, and aluminum plates, evoking the atmosphere of a traditional teahouse combined with a contemporary bar. This layout pays homage to the ancient tea pavilion, which provided shelter, scenic views, and opportunities for socializing. Visitors can sit around the bar or by the window, enjoying the soothing sounds of tea making and the taste of various tea offerings.

The unique blend of materials from different time periods helps to evoke memories of the handmade era while showcasing the modernist form of the store’s design. The second floor, though limited in size, offers an intriguing variety of spaces for small private parties, private room service, and multi-functional applications. The furniture, including coffee tables and chairs, has been thoughtfully chosen to complement the architectural elements of the space and create an emotional connection with visitors. Carefully selected materials and geometric proportions ensure the functional needs are met while preserving a sense of architectural harmony.
