Flow of Light is a minimal home located in Hangzhou, China, designed by CYID. Using a soft, quiet, and relaxed atmosphere to create the possibility for staying and immersing oneself in the space. Adhering to the minimalistic style in its layout, the space is deconstructed and rearranged through the use of materials, color blocks, and functional stacking, creating different visual spaces and maximizing the connection between the space and an ideal lifestyle, creating a sense of ceremony when returning home. As time crafts everything into a beautiful appearance, a sense of joy is mixed with tranquility. Pure, neutral colors are used without competing, creating a laid-back and peaceful atmosphere.

The interaction between the interior and exterior is derived from sunlight and air, and the tranquility that transcends the mundane comes from inwardly expressing the narrative. By using the space as a medium, the depth of the space is progressively enhanced through the combination of lines, planes, and colors, and an emotional resonance is also established through the role of light and shadow, creating an emotional atmosphere. This clearly fits the more open and free lifestyle of contemporary young people. A sequence of combinations gives the space a rich emotional expression, with a focus on structure and lighting.

The design of the position of light entry and the beginning of the structure allows it to reflect the beauty of the space’s transitions. The arrangement of warm and cold colors in human and black, suitable for the warm and cold, forms a warm perception of the “home” space under the introduction of light. The designer applied minimalistic elements to the extreme, even carefully considering the shape of the lamp and combining it with the style of the site and the shape of the table and central island to design a soft and warm geometric lamp box with matte acrylic and stainless steel materials.
