Light Symphony is a minimalist home located in Qingyuan, China, designed by TOATA Design. Given the building’s close connection to the natural world, the interior was transformed to feature “forest-like” elements, bringing an organic warmth and vitality under subtle lighting. Ethereal curtains enhanced the ambiance, likened to a poetic symphony, tailored to cater to the various emotional needs of the residents and adding a multi-faceted meaning to their living space. The design subtly incorporated the number “7” throughout, serving both as a digital and figurative motif. This element was echoed in the structural details of the home, such as beams and blocks, which were crafted to exhibit their intrinsic beauty and durability over time.
The layout of the space transcended mere function, offering both dynamic and serene zones. This transformation enhanced the interactivity, lightness, and transparency of the space, inviting occupants to ponder the broader implications of design in enhancing everyday life. The public areas of the home were designed to foster harmony and multipurpose use. Residents could enjoy quiet moments in a dedicated tea area, engage with literature on a cozy sofa, savor coffee at a uniquely designed bar, or appreciate shared meals in the dining area, each space designed to enrich life’s daily rituals. In the second bedroom, the design incorporated three distinct zones: a bookshelf, a desk, and a bedside cabinet, combining functionality with structural elegance. Meanwhile, the master bedroom featured an intricate use of cantilevered and interspersed structures, along with design principles inspired by Carlo Scarpa.
